About Us

Montana Resources (MR) operates an open pit copper and molybdenum mine in Butte, Montana. The operation comprises the Continental Pit mine and a concentrator where tons of raw ore is processed into metal concentrates. MR serves an international market for these metal concentrates.

At full production, MR employs over 340 people - a proud and skilled workforce, heir to a tradition of copper mining in Butte dating back to the 1870's.

MR, through its majority owner, Montana Resources, Inc., is one of the Washington Companies, a group of individual companies in which Montana businessman Dennis R. Washington holds a controlling ownership position. The Washington Companies are all privately held, and are guided by separate Boards of Directors that individually manage each company. The Companies have grown and diversified by focusing on core industries in six primary sectors: mining, construction, rail transportation, heavy equipment sales, aviation products, and real estate development.
