Our Greatest Asset

At any give time, around 350 men and women make up the Montana Resources work force.

Montana Resources' employees possess a spectrum of professions, trades and skills.
Montana Resources is a Montana-based company fortunate to be located and operating in a community that supports our industry and to be an integral part of the community’s fabric. As such, Montana Resources owes its success to the people of Butte and approximately 350 men and women that make up our workforce. Many represent generations of miners. Our employees work in a wide spectrum of professions, trades and skills--pipe fitters, mechanics, machinists, mining engineers, geological engineers, metallurgical engineers, chemists, electricians, accountants, equipment operators, and office staff — each of them necessary for efficient operation of a modern mine and each a valuable asset to us. In turn, we are concerned that our workers perform their jobs in safety and in respect for the environment we all work, live and play in.
The primary focus of the Montana Resources operation is that workers come to work and return home safely each day. The company has built a team where every employee is a courageous leader in safety. Their core value is to look out for their personal safety as well as the safety of their fellow employees.
In addition to dedication at work, Montana Resources employees contribute a great deal of time, talent and money back to their community and surrounding areas, making a better place to live. Employee-initiated special projects contribute significantly to local charities. Montana Resources supports local programs and contributes to the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, whose grants and donations benefit the Southwest Montana area in many ways. Montana Resources and its employees were selected as the 2005 Business of the Year by the Butte Chamber of Commerce, and in October, 2008, The Montana Resources employees were awarded the Herald McGrath Award from the Butte/Silverbow Chamber of Commerce for contributing significantly to the life of the community. We take an interest in the success and well-being of employees and their families. Montana Resources and the Washington Companies extend many benefits to employees. In one such program, employees' family members may receive financial assistance toward qualifying post-secondary education.
We are proud to continue Butte America’s heritage as a mining city and are committed to continuing that tradition well into the future. Our employees are the people who will make that possible.
